چکیده

A 59-year-old woman visited the ophthalmologist for a routine examination. Ever since a severe head injury with frontal lobe damage at age 16 years, she had experienced intermittent diplopia and difficulties finding misplaced objects, but worked as a clerk throughout her life. Ocular motility was full with only slight exotropia, but perimetry revealed complete bitemporal hemianopia (figure 1, A and C). Bitemporal hemianopia is caused by disruption of crossing nerve fibers in the optic chiasm (figure 2), usually due to suprasellar masses, or rarely, following head trauma. Electrophysiological and Histological Study of Lysolecithin-Induced Local Demyelination in Adult Mice Optic Chiasm

Introduction: Demyelination is one of the main causes of neurological disability. It is the end product of numerous pathological processes, multiple sclerosis (MS) being the most common cause. More than 70% of the MS patients suffer from optic disturbances. This disease commonly affects the optic pathway, particularly the optic nerves and chiasm. Several attempts have been made to produce a ...

P72: Hesperetine Nanoparticles Ameliorate Glial Activation and Reduce Demyelination Llevel of Rat Optic Chiasm in Lysolecithin-Iinduced Demyelination Model

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is one of the most autoimmune neurological and inflammatory disease in worldwide. Demyelination and disturbance of action potential conductance are regarded as main signs of MS disease. Hesperetin (Hst) is one of the flavonoid that have neuroprotective properties. The present study attempts to evaluate the effects of hesperetin or its nanoparticle on myelin repair and gl...

Blindness associated with nasal/paranasal lymphoma in a stallion

A 29-year-old stallion presented with bilateral blindness following the chronic purulent nasal drainage. The mass occupied the right caudal nasal cavity and right paranasal sinuses including maxillary, palatine and sphenoidal sinuses, and the right-side turbinal and paranasal septal bones, and cribriform plate of ethmoid bone were destructively replaced by the mass growth. The right optic nerve...

Nogo receptor blockade enhances subventricular zone’s stem cells proliferation and differentiation in demyelination context

Introduction: Nogo-A and Nogo receptor (NgR) are expressed in the subventricular zone (SVZ) stem cells. NgR plays critical inhibitory roles in axonal regeneration and remyelination. However, the role of NgR in SVZ niche behaviors in demyelination context is still uncertain. Here we investigated the effects of NgR inhibition on SVZ niche reaction in a local model of demyelination in adult mouse ...

Retinal ganglion cell axon progression from the optic chiasm to initiate optic tract development requires cell autonomous function of GAP-43.

Pathfinding mechanisms underlying retinal ganglion cell (RGC) axon growth from the optic chiasm into the optic tract are unknown. Previous work has shown that mouse embryos deficient in GAP-43 have an enlarged optic chiasm within which RGC axons were reportedly stalled. Here we have found that the enlarged chiasm of GAP-43 null mouse embryos appears subsequent to a failure of the earliest RGC a...
